Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (2000) (RIPA) : (ICT) This is a Britsh law that was created to define the legal power of certain organisations to carry out surveillance and interception of communications. Mainly for security and crime detection. The Act includes detail about (a) >the interception of communications such as emails and telephone conversations. (b) the recording of data traffic that flows across the internet within the UK. (c) the carrying out of surveillance. (d) the use of undercover agents. (e) access to electronic data protected by encryption or passwords. (f) the appointment of Commissioners and the establishment of a tribunal to look after these issues
