Rest Centres 7 : A Rest Centre is a facility for providing shelter, food and the other necessities of life for residents displaced from their homes following a major incident. Rest Centres will usually be located in leisure centres, schools (not Primary), parish halls or similar premises. Ideally these should be in operation for no more than 48hrs and early attempts must be made to find more suitable short to medium term accommodation. ASS&H have a list of suitable rest centre premises and trained staff to resource them. Early consideration should be given to the call out of voluntary agencies to help support ASS&H efforts
