Standard Precautions 2 : With reference to infection control procedures, means precautions designed to reduce the risk of spreading organisms from both recognised and unrecognised sources of infection. Standard precautions: apply to all clients; are designed to protect employees; ensure protective attire and equipment is provided and used when in contact with potentially infectious body fluids; are used in conjunction with transmission-based precautions for specific pathogens
