Steamer Connection 1 :
(1) An intake hose connection, 4-1/2 in. diameter or larger, and comparable to the steamer outlet on a hydrant. (2) A siamese connection for pumping into an automatic sprinkler system or standpipe to provide additional water supply at suitable pressures; originally it was provided for supply by steam fire engines.
