Strain Gauge 1
Strain Gauge 1 : A device which uses the change of electrical resistance of a wire under strain to measure pressure. Fine wire or a semiconductor filament is attached by a suitable adhesive such as pheonolic resin cement to the surface under test, so that any strains set up in the latter are transferred to the gauge wire. The electrical resistance of the gauge is proportional to the strain. The gauge is suitable for measuring strains of the order of 10-4 - l0-2
