Stress 02 : (1) Mechanical stress is the measure of the force applied to a body or component divided by the area over which the force is applied. Stress = Force Cross Sectional Area. (2) An event or situation which places increased demand upon a person's mental or emotional resources. Sources of stress may be occupational or domestic/social each has the ability to be either stimulating or harmful. See: Strain 2
