Strong Ground Motion 1 : Ground motion of sufficient amplitude and duration to be potentially damaging to a building's structural components, architectural features, or to its content. One common practical designation of strong ground motion is a peak ground acceleration of 0.05g or larger. See Anderson (2003), Bolt and Abrahamson (2003), and Campbell (2003)
