Structural Adjustment : Change in the institutional arrangements for the management of a country's economic and financial affairs involving new policies and programmes in the interests of economic stabilization and growth. The term is usually associated with changes recommended by the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (Bretton Woods institutions) for countries with excessive current account deficits, budget deficits, and excessive inflation
