Structural Geology 1

Structural Geology 1 : The branch of geology concerned with the description, spatial representation, and analysis of structural features ranging from microscopic to moderate. As such, it includes studies of the forces that produce rock deformation, and of the origin and distribution of these forces. Structural features may be primary, i.e., those acquired in the genesis of a rock mass (e.g., horizontal layering), or secondary, i.e., resulting from later deformation of primary structures (e.g., folding or fracturing). Cf: tectonics
