Kinship Carer


Kinship Carer :

A kinship carer is a person related to the child or a member of a child's community and considered family or a close friend who is approved by the department to provide an out-of-home care placement for the child. Kinship carers may be further categorised as: (1) grandparents; (2) aunts/uncles; (3) other relatives or close friend; and (4) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, relative care may include another Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Islander who is a member of, or compatible with the child's community or language group
