Cellulose 1
Cellulose 1 : (Chem) A complex polysac-charide (C6H10O5)n occurring as a natural polymer in plants. Cotton is almost pure cellulose. Used extensively in fibers for textiles (rayon), paper, photographic film, and plastics (cellophane). Note: Cellulose in a mixture of sulfuric and nitric acids forms cellulose nitrate, a powerful explosive called guncotton, which is used in the manufacture of cordite
