Chemical Weapons Convention 3 : This Convention prohibits the development, production, stockpiling, and use of chemical weapons. It was opened for signature in 1993, and entered into force in 1997. The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in the Hague is responsible for implementation. The State Parties to this Convention work towards achieving effective progress towards general and complete disarmament under strict and effective international control, including the prohibition and elimination of all types of weapons of mass destruction. This Convention reaffirms the principles and objectives of and obligations assumed under the Geneva Protocol of 1925, and the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on their Destruction signed on in April 1972. http: //www.opcw.nl/ http://projects.sipri-se/cbw/docs/cw-cwc-mainpage.html
