Activity 02 : Radiation and Radiological Disasters. (also Radioactivity) The rate at which a source emits radiation. Activity is measured in terms of the number of disintegrations that take place in some time period (eg. disintegrations per second ). The special unit for activity is the curie. One curie (Ci) is equal to 37 billion (3.7 x 1010) disintegrations per second
