Chronic Effects 11 :
Effects that develop slowly and have a long duration. They are often, but not always, irreversible. Some irreversible effects may appear a long time after the chemical substance was present in the sensitive tissue. For such delayed or late effects, the latent period (or the "time to occurrence'' of an observable effect) may be very long, particularly if the level of exposure is low
