Civil Defense Scientific Advisory Committee :
This Committee, which was created July 1, 1954, under authority of section 102 (b), Public Law 920, 81st Congress, meets at the call or the chairman at places designated by him The Committee chairman and other officers are appointed by the President, National Academy of Sciences. This Committree assists the Federal Civil Defense Administration in major scientific problems affecting the civil defense program and recommends lines of investigation needed to understand scientific factors involved. It also advises whether conclusions and hypotheses reached are based on all available scientific evidence. (FCDA, 1955 Annual Report, 1956, p. 59-60)
