Class 170


Class 170 : ScotRail introduced the 3 coach Turbostar in 1999 to compliment its fleet of Class 158 "Express Sprinter" DMUs (Diesel Multiple Units). These were initially used on the Glasgow-Edinburgh shuttle service, but with the leasing of additional units their use has since been extended to Inverness and Aberdeen-bound services from the Central Belt. In addition, a third group of Class 170s operate suburban services in the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas. These units do not have any First Class accommodation
