Cruise
Cruise : The systematic measurement of a forested area designed to estimate to a specified degree of accuracy the volume of timber it contains, by evaluating the number and species of trees, their sizes, and conditions. Cruise data can also include an assessment of habitat conditions, environmentally sensitive areas, and a tally of important features that have to be considered in an integrated resource management plan. Also, a quantified sample that determines the quality and quantity of timber to be sold, as well as providing information regarding stand productivity for estimating stumpage value, and data for management, protection, and silvicultural decisions
