Dose Equivalent 01 : Radiation and Radiological Disasters. (a) The product of the absorbed dose from ionizing radiation and such factors as account for differences in biological effectiveness due to the type of radiation and its distribution in the body as specified by the International Commission on Radiological Units and Measurements (ICRU). Dose equivalent is expressed in units of rem (or sievert) (1 rem = 0.01 sievert).
