"Fire and explosion index" (FEI) and "Chemical Exposure Index" (CEI) developed by the Dow Chemical company. The FEI generates a number which is related to the overall fire and explosion risk for an installation or processing unit. It is useful for comparison, ranking and qualitative risk assessment. It is easy to use and a valuable screening tool. The CEI is a simple and quick calculation of the 'footprint' (Concentration and range) of releases from user input scenarios (Hole size, temperature and pressure of release, physical properties) of toxic substances. Toxicity is generally based on Acute Exposure Guildeline Levels (AEGLs). It is usful for quick estimates and for ranking of process unit hazards
