Drydock, or d/d 1 : Periodically all vessels must enter a drydock as part of the vessel's maintenance procedures and survey requirements to allow for various inspections and maintenance work. This will usually be conducted every 2 2.5 years although some more modern vessels are designed to go 5 years between drydockings
