Duro, Durometer

Duro, Durometer : A measure of the hardness of plastic, rubber, or similar material, made by an instrument called a durometer. These instruments test the material with a steel pin, and the depth of the indentation made by the pin is read by a calibrated spring meter. There are various versions of the durometer, designed for materials of different kinds; to be called durometers, all versions must conform to standards set by standards organizations such as the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Durometer scales run from 0 to 100, with larger numbers indicating harder material. The different scales are identified by letters, including A, B, C, D, O, DO, and OO. However, since only one type is used for a particular material, the scale designation is often omitted. Typical notations used are "50 duro", "65 durometer A", and "D40 duro"
