Earth Tide 2 : The response of the solid Earth to the forces that produce the tides of the sea; semidaily earth tides have a fluctuation of between seven and fifteen centimeters. Rising and falling of the earth's solid surface in response to the gravitational pull of the sun and the moon. Earth tides, like ocean tides, show the greatest rise when the moon and the sun are aligned (sping tide) and least rise when the moon and sun are perpendicular to each other (neap tide)
