Effusive Eruption 1

Effusive Eruption 1 :

Eruptions can be explosive or effusive, depending on the physical properties of the magma. Effusive eruptions occur when molten rock (lava) reaches the Earth's surface and erupts passively. The products of these eruptions are lava flows and lava domes. They generally occur when the gas content of the magma is low. Basalts tend to erupt effusively and produce lava flows. The dominant style of the ongoing eruption of the Soufriére Hills Volcano in Montserrat has been the effusive eruption of lava leading to the formation of a lava dome
