Emergencies Involving Chemical or Biological Weapons : "Pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 382, in response to an emergency involving biological or chemical WMD that is beyond the capabilities of civilian authorities to handle, the Attorney General may request DOD assistance directly. Assistance to be provided includes monitoring, containing, disabling, and disposing of the weapon, as well as direct law enforcement assistance that would otherwise violate the Posse Comitatus Act.
