Emergency Alert System (EAS) 01

Emergency Alert System (EAS) 01 : "A national communications network and public warning system started in 1994 that replaced the Emergency Broadcast System jointly administered by the Federal Communications Commission, FEMA, and the National Weather Service. The System requires broadcasters, cable television systems, wireless cable systems, satellite digital audio radio service (SDARS) providers and, effective in May 2007, direct broadcast satellite (DBS) service providers to provide the communications capability to the President to address the American public during a national emergency. The system also may be used by state and local authorities to deliver important emergency information such as AMBER alerts and weather (1) information targeted to a specific area".
