Emergency Alerting System (EAS)
Emergency Alerting System (EAS) : A voluntary network of broadcast stations and interconnecting facilities, which have been authorized by the Federal Communications Commission to disseminate information during an emergency, as provided by the Emergency Alerting System Plan. EAS is made up of AM, FM, and TV Broadcast Stations and nongovernmental electronic communications operating in a voluntary organized manner during natural/man-made emergencies or disasters at national, state, or local levels.
