Emergency Manager 08
Emergency Manager 08 : The person who has the day-to-day responsibility for emergency management programs and activities. The role is one of coordinating all aspects of a jurisdiction's mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities. The local emergency management position is referred to with different titles across the country, such as civil defense coordinator or director, civil preparedness coordinator or director, disaster services director, and emergency services director. Because of federal policy under the Bush administration, it is now commonly referred to as homeland security director. Within organizations, this person may be the safety director or the emergency program coordinator (VA Medical Centers) or another title. (Adapted from FEMA Higher Education Project)
