Emergency, What is an : There are many definitions of an emergency, for North Somerset Council NSC it may be described as: "Any incident that calls for a response from the Council which directorates cannot deal with under their day-to-day emergency procedures and resources". This is likely to include major flooding, a major transport accident such as a train crash, chemical incidents, and may also include 'flu epidemics, animal diseases and terrorist incidents. Minor incidents, for example, road accidents or limited flooding, do not come within the parameters of emergency management
