Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT)


Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) : A tripartite body comprising high court judges nominated by the Lord Chancellor and a panel of lay members chosen from employers' and workers' organisations. Cases are heard by a judge and either two or four lay persons, all of whom have equal voting rights. Appeals against an employment tribunal decision can normally only be considered by the EAT if there has been an error of law
