Absolute Pressure 3

Absolute Pressure 3 :

(Techn) Pressure referred to a scale on which an absolute vacuum is zero and expressed as pounds per square inch absolute (psia) or in pascals. By contrast, gage Pressure indicates the difference between atmospheric pressure and the measured pressure. Thus, absolute pressure is the sum of gage pressure and atmospheric pressure. If the measured pressure is negative, it is commonly referred to as a vacuum or partial vacuum. See: . Pressure. Note: Absolute pressure is generally used in vacuum technology; gage pressure is most common in other applications
