Eruption 1

Eruption 1 : A general term applied loosely to any sudden expulsion - explosive or non-explosive - of material (solid, liquid, or gas) from volcanic vents. Some volcanologists, however, prefer that the term be restricted only to ejections of lava and (or) fragmental solid debris, thereby distinguishing them from aqueous or gaseous emissions devoid of particulate matter. Such a distinction is important in the assessment of volcano hazards and in the communications of volcano-hazards information during a volcanic emergency
