Absolute Temperature 5 :

Gases contract by 1 /273 of their volume at 0°C for every degree fall of temperature; a perfect gas therefore would have no volume at -273°C. This temperature is known as absolute zero, and is a convenient limit to which to refer all other temperatures, which are then known as absolute temperatures. See also: Temperature
