Explosive 03

Explosive 03 : (Techn) A substance capable of sudden high-velocity reaction with the generation of high pressures. Explosives are classified as deflagrating (low explosive) and detonating (high explosive). Depen-ding on their sensitivity, explosives are set off by fire (heat), by friction, by concussion, by percussion, or by detonation. Note: Examples of common explosives include dynamite, black powder, pellet powders, initiating explosives, blasting caps, electric blasting caps, safety fuse, fuse lighters, fuse igniters, squibs, primacord, instantaneous fuse, igniter cord, igniters, small arms ammunition, small arms ammunition primers, smokeless propellants, cartridges for propellant-actuated power devices, and cartridges for indus?trial guns. The U. S. Department of Transportation classifies explosives as: Class A: Detonating explosives, such as dynamite, nitroglycerin, picric acid, lead azide, fulminate of mercury, black powder, blasting caps, and detonating primers. Class B: Flammable explosives, such as propellants. Class C: Certain types of manufactured articles which contain small quantities of Class A or Class B explosives as components
