Exposure 01 : (1) (Safety) The length of time that a worker has been in the presence of a given job hazard. (2) (Dosim) A condition or instance of being acted upon by radiation. (3) (Insur; Fire Pr) a. The portion or whole of a structure that may be endangered by a fire because of proximity to a hazard and other factors. b. The likelihood of property catching fire from neigh-boring fire hazards. c. A part or surface that is vulnerable to damage or destruction, as one that faces a nearby hazard. (4) (For Serv; Meteor) A surface receiving energy from a heat source, such as the side of a hill facing the sun. Note: In the northern hemisphere, southwest exposures receive the most solar radiation during the year. (5) (Med) a. Lack of shelter or protection from a hostile environment. b. Physical impairment suffered because of inadequate protection from the elements. Debility or other symptoms brought on by the sun or heat, wind and extreme cold, or prolonged immersion in water. (6) (Photog) a. The time interval required to record a latent image on a photographic film or paper. b. A photographic image, frame, or picture
