Fairness 2 : Fairness is one of the Principles of Assessment. To be fair, assessment should ensure that: the candidate clearly understands what is expected of them and what form the assessment will take; the assessment procedure supports the identification of training needs; equity requirements for all groups of people being assessed will be considered and addressed through reasonable adjustments; criteria for judging performance should be made clear to the candidate; a participatory approach to assessment is used and agreed to by the assessor and the candidate; opportunities that allow the person/s being assessed to challenge assessments and with provision for reassessment are provided
