Air Canada Flight 797 6 : (3) Notable Passengers: (a) Stan Rogers was a Canadian folk singer, known for songs such as "Northwest Passage", "The Mary Ellen Carter" and "Barrett's Privateers". He was going home on Flight 797 after attending the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas. He died in the fire at the age of 33. (b) Also on board was George Curtis Mathes Jr. ,son of the founder of the electronics company that bears his name. He was currently CEO of Curtis Mathes and Curtis Mathes Centers. Curtis Mathes Centers was spun off to ColorTyme, which had purchased the rental centers from Curtis Mathes. The Factory in Athens, Texas was sold to the Murphy Company and the copyright to the Curtis Mathes name went a Dallas developer who has been attempting to revive the name. He had recently made large acquisitions in Canada and was traveling to finalize his corporate plans for a venture[with G F Sweetman as CEO]. He died in the fire.
