Flammable 18 : Generally used in fire investigation and code standard to describe combustible material that ignites readily and burns intensely with rapid flame spread. The term is used in a general sense without a clear definition of ignition temperature, surface burning rate, or other defined guidelines. The term is preferred over inflammable in order to avoid possible confusion due to the prefix "in" which suggest the negative, such as in the term non-flammable
