Flood Defences : Fluvial - D&E exercises powers on non-main rivers above 8m contour outside the Inland Drainage Board area. All other watercourses are the responsibility of the Internal Drainage Board or the Environment Agency. Coastal Flood Defences - D&E are responsible for most of the hard sea defences in the coastal towns (apart from a short stretch in the Salthouse Fields, Clevedon).
