Foam Diversion

Foam Diversion : (n). Well Workover and Intervention. The use of foam as a diverting agent during staged stimulation treatments. Stable foam is relatively viscous and the effect within a reservoir matrix can be used to divert subsequent acid stages from the zones already treated. Following the treatment, the foam breaks, with little risk of formation damage, to form a mixture of liquid and gaseous nitrogen that facilitates the cleanup process.
