Function 01
Function 01 : (1) One of the five major activities in the Incident Command System: Command, Operations, Planning, Logistics, and Finance/Administration. A sixth function, Intelligence/Investigations, may be established, if required, to meet incident management needs. The term function is also used when describing the activity involved (e.g., the planning function). (NIMS 12/08). (2) In systems engineering, the term "function" describes a group of activities that together support one aspect of furthering the mission of the enterprise. Functions can be grouped into functional areas that refer to major areas of activity. (3) Service, process, capability, or operation performed by an asset, system, network, or organization.
