Gas 02 :
(Phys) (1) a. A fluid. One of the four states of matter (gas, liquid, solid, plasma), characterized by low density, high fluidity, high compressibility, and indefinite expansion. See: Fluid. b. A substance that produces a poisonous, irritating, or asphyxiating atmosphere. Note: Combustible gases are extinguishable only by oxygen starvation or by chemical interaction using dry chemicals. Dense water fogs, changing to steam that depletes the oxygen supply by displacement, may also be used. (2) (Toxicol) An aeriform fluid that is poisonous, irritating, or asphyxiating. (3) (Colloq) = gasoline
