Geodata, Spatial Data :

Data on objects, landscapes and infrastructures on the earth's surface. Geodata can be linked by its spatial relation to enable the derivation of new information, especially by using GIS functionalities. Geodata are goods of the spatial data market. From the IT view it can be divided into: geometry data (position and form of objects), topology (explicitly stored spatial relations), graphical attributes like signatures, colours, typography, attribute data, descriptive data (alphanumerical data to describe semantics). In the classic IT branch geodata constitute a special challenge because of: high acquisition complexity, large data amounts, the required response times while accessing data, the processing concerning spatial criteria and the relations complexity of the objects
