Gooseneck 1
Gooseneck 1 : (1) An inverted end of a pipe at the end of flammable liquid vent pipes that prevents rain from entering. (2) That part of the fire escape ladder that extends up from the top fire escape balcony and curves back over the edge of the roof. See: Gooseneck Ladder. (3) An early type of hand engine so called because of the gooseneck shape of the discharge pipe atop the engine. (4) An early type of portable playpipe. (5) Brit A U-shaped fitting used in place of a branch for filling dams
