GPS 09 : Global Positioning System: The GPS is a satellite based navigation system. It is used both on the ground by SAR Techs and in all of the SAR aircraft. GPS enables crews to be within a few hundred meters of a location. It is especially useful in the north, where a lack of obvious visual features, trees, mountains, often hampers navigation.
