Grading Schedule :

(Fire Pr; Insur) The scale by which insurance underwriters evaluate community fire protection. Note: The National Bureau of Fire Underwriters' schedule has 5000 deficiency points and 10 classes. The water supply is graded on a 1700 point scale; fire departments, 1500 points; alarm system, 550; etc. Each 500 deficiency points assessed drops the community one class level. Class 1 is equivalent to fully protected and class 10 to unprotected. The American Insurance Association also has a grading schedule for larger cities for the purpose of establishing insurance rates
