Gross Tonnage (GT) 04 : Maritime Transport - Transport Equipment (Vessel). Gross tonnage is a measure of the size of a ship determined in accordance with the provisions of the International Convention on Tonnage Measurement of Ships, 1969. Prior to the adoption of the International Convention, the Oslo Convention (1947) was in force, which produced substantially different figures for gross tonnage for some vessels. In some cases, the gross tonnage measure for a vessel is available only on the basis of this earlier convention
