Groundwater Rise


Groundwater Rise : Large volumes of precipitation or water pressure from a flooded river may cause the water table to rise. This may lead to damage even below the surface of the terrain if buildings do not have watertight cellar walls or are not protected sufficiently against uplift. Floods caused by the water table rising occur often (but not exclusively) near rivers. Groundwater rise will cause flooding when the water table has risen above the surface of the ground or the ground has sunk below the water table
