Grzymek

Grzymek : Also known as the sintering/self-disintegration process. A process for making both alumina and cement from aluminous ores and wastes. The ore is mixed with limestone and calcined in a coal-fired rotary kiln. The product spontaneously breaks up into small lumps suitable for leaching by aqueous sodium carbonate. Alumina is precipitated from the leachate by carbon dioxide. The residues are mixed with more limestone and calcined to produce cement clinker
