Half-Saturation Constant :
Nutrient concentration at which the growth rate of a population of a species or group of species is half the maximum rate. Half-saturation constants define the nutrient uptake characteristics of different phytoplankton species. Low half-saturation constants indicate the ability of the algal group to thrive under nutrient-depleted conditions.
