HarsMeth Methodology :
HarsMeth is a methodology for the hazard assessment of reactive systems, especially designed for SMEs. Its aim is to help to identify the possible hazards that may be encountered during a chemical process. The identification is performed by means of a set of checklists that cover all the steps involved in a chemical process, including chemical analysis of the reaction at different stages, hazards involved in storage facilities and management issues. Besides, it describes available techniques for determination of safety parameters, general rules and methods to determine the intrinsic level of safety related to a chemical reaction, and possible measures (including prevention, mitigation and control systems) in order to reduce the likelihood and severity of an accident in process plants.
